Thank you for your interest. My name is Shawn Barnes, owner of Helping Hands Live-In Services. I have worked in the healthcare industry for over 20 years, first as a certified nursing assistant in various facilities and private duty home care agencies, and later as a licensed nurse with a focus on home care. Helping Hands was formed in 2007, providing non-medical, hourly care for clients, but over the years I recognized a need for a more affordable option for clients in need of 24-hour coverage.  I made the decision to form an agency that specializes in 24-hour live-in care to address the financial concerns of many seniors who require 24-hour care to safely remain at home. Live-in care is charged by the day, rather than by the hour, which significantly lowers the cost of full-time care. 

Most seniors prefer to remain in their own homes, but many experience the legitimate fear of outliving their financial resources if their need for private duty care becomes long term. I wanted to offer a “first step” in home care. Our service is simply an alternative to expensive hourly care when 24-hour supervision, support and assistance is needed, but not yet skilled or extensive care. This allows seniors to save a significant amount on home care services by paying only for the type of coverage they need at that time. Many clients have used our services for several years before needing to transition to hourly or skilled care.
